The people saying this or that retired and rusting ship should be made into a museum and the people who put up the money to pay for it are usually not the same people. I say this as someone who has an extremely peripheral role in helping fund on the the Great Lakes’ better museum ships.
A boat, it is said, is a hole surrounded by water into which one throws money. Multiply that by a few tens of thousands and you have some idea of what it costs to keep a museum ship going.
